Another big bonus in completing this cleaning project is that we've set aside a decent chunk of money to {finally} make some purchases and complete some projects to really make this house our home. So, once the cleaning is all finished, I'll feel good about making those changes (and, of course, sharing them with you!).
I don't want to max myself out (especially with a super grouchy teething toddler running around), so I'm only going to do a room or two a day. I'll be organizing, getting rid of stuff we don't need/use, "greening" things where possible, and getting rid of grime and dirt from top to bottom!
How will you benefit from following along with this cleaning project of mine? First of all, I plan on using only natural cleaning products, some homemade and some from a few pretty great eco-friendly companies. I'll share what works and the recipes for them. I am also going to be putting together downloadable checklists for each room, giving you a jumping-off point when it's time to tackle your home.
Only thing I ask from you? No judgment! I'm going to be brutally honest with you and share details and pictures of my cleaning process. I'm doing this so that all of you can benefit. I live in a big, old farmhouse with a husband, a toddler, and six indoor pets. My house is not immaculate (YET!), so no pointing fingers!!
So, make sure to bookmark this page and come back to check out the updated links below for each room! Also, be sure to share in the comments if there is something specific you're looking forward to reading and I'll make sure to squeeze it in!
Click the links below for green cleaning tips and tricks and downloadable checklists for each room in your house (these will be updated as each room is completed):

LAUNDRY ROOM
We have been trying to pick just a section of a room and make permanent change, aka putting away anything that has been stacked there, hopefully getting rid of (giving away if possible, recycling next, and trash as last option).
ReplyDeleteLucky for us, we're in the middle of a break in the cold and we can air out the house today. Even luckier for me, Mr. Eco does the cleaning ;)
ReplyDeleteI love to do a winter clean. I've found it helps to get the germs out of the air and promote our health.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome! I definitely don't have the motivation to do winter cleaning even though it needs to be done. It seems I can barely keep up with the regular household chores with my toddler.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I need to do this with you! I will be back!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea :) I also really get into the cleaning spirit at the beginning of the year. Of course we've been living in Hawaii for over 2 years so the lack of major seasons probably has something to do with that! Since we just moved to a new home I'm also looking forward to cleaning more so I can make it more home like. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI am totally motivated this time of year as well. Plus selling the house/moving has got me even more inspired. I've already taken a bunch of boxes out of the house as either trash or Goodwill, sold to consignment or on Craigslist, and got some great organizing/cleaning done. Your project will help keep me motivated while we go! Maybe you can do a link-up for each mini-project so others can share along with you. Then I might even be motivated to blog too! What are you doing to me?!! ha
ReplyDeleteI like this idea! Looking forward to the series!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Leah!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this series!! We're still in the process of going room by room in our new house and organizing, cleaning, and decorating. Love to see what you have to say since I tend to want to clean NOW and not in the spring!
ReplyDeleteGood idea! Who wants to clean in the Spring when it's pretty outside!? Winter cleaning sounds like a better idea. I will follow you in your journey.
