Mommy Time-Out Book Review and Giveaway

Hey Mama - when is the last time you gave yourself a time-out?  No, I don't mean putting yourself in the corner.  I mean taking a break from everything - dishes, laundry, work, the kids, the partner, the pets - and focused 100% on yourself?

That's what I thought.....

Sustainable Living: Setting Goals for Your Growing Season

If there’s one thing we’ve learned in our almost three years living on the farm, it’s that the most important part of successful farming is planning! Our first year, we just kinda threw things in the ground and crossed our fingers (granted, I was also extremely pregnant that Spring, so poor Brian had to do all of the work). Last year, we had great intentions. We made a “Garden Notebook” and did research and took notes for the first few weeks... then little by little we forgot about our notes and just kind of “winged it” again. Now don’t get me wrong, we still had successful crops both years; and last year we even ran a mini CSA with some friends! But this year needs to be different. This year, we have an extra mouth to feed... a very hungry little mouth! And we are committed to living as sustainably as possible, growing as much of our own food as we can and preserving as much as possible for the cold season.

On Being *That* Mom

Yesterday, I felt like *that* mom....

You know... the mom who is standing in the parking lot with her arms full of bags while her toddler is on the ground throwing a temper tantrum.  The mom who let her kid eat a Starbucks pastry for breakfast because she was just too tired to make something healthy.  The mom who let her kid watch probably one too many episodes of Sesame Street just for a little extra dinner prep time.  The mom who just can't wait for bedtime.

Yesterday, that was me.

Product Review: OraMD by Trusted Health Products

As many of my readers know, I make an effort in my home to be as green and natural as possible.  I make our own soaps, use ecofriendly and natural cleaners, etc.  I will admit though, that one area where I hadn't yet made a change was in our toothpaste.  I had attempted a few homemade tooth powders, but they just didn't give me that tingly, "clean" feeling that conventional toothpaste did.  Then I found OraMD by Trusted Health Products.
